No. 11 - ‘Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable’
Urban Flora is a highly sustainable initiative, being made mostly from bamboo which is a very sustainable material. Additionally, our packaging will be made of recycled paper pulp which will contain seeds inside, which can then be planted in separate pots to place around your home. The seeds that we will be using are borage seeds and coneflower seeds, which are two low maintenance plants. This is beneficial for the busy lives of urban residents. The plants can cope with almost all soil types; soil with low nutritional contents and soils with a range of pH levels (including alkaline soils). In addition to this the use of plants to improve air quality requires no energy input and is by definition completely biodegradable and sustainable

No. 12 - ‘Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns’
Urban Flora is working towards this goal by creating an affordable and sustainably made product that can be adapted to all spaces thanks to its modular design. The use of coconut fibre as a way of holding plants will support the economy of local communities that produce it. Moreover, our bamboo is also sustainably and locally sourced. Our design is entirely plastic free! All components are lightweight to reduce CO2 emissions from shipping.
